“Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness; let the whole earth stand in awe of Him.”— Psalm 96:9

A Catholic Parish within the Church of England

St Paul’s Church, Hasland, is a faithful and vibrant Anglo-Catholic parish within the Diocese of Derby. We joyfully witness to the historic Catholic faith as received and celebrated in the Church of England.
Here, the fullness of the Christian life is expressed in reverent worship, sound doctrine, sacramental grace, and pastoral care rooted in the love of Christ. Our life together is centred on the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, nourished by daily prayer, and sustained by our common vocation to holiness.
We exist to glorify God, to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and to build up His Kingdom in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Our Episcopal Oversight: The Bishop of Oswestry

St Paul’s is a parish of The Society and, as such, receives pastoral and sacramental oversight from The Right Reverend Paul Thomas SSC, Bishop of Oswestry. Bishop Paul serves as a Provincial Episcopal Visitor (PEV), offering episcopal care to those parishes who uphold the traditional doctrine of the Church regarding Holy Orders.
In communion with The Society under the patronage of St Wilfrid and St Hilda, we affirm the apostolic faith and seek unity with the wider Catholic Church through faithfulness to the historic teachings and sacramental life of Anglicanism. The Mass:

The Heart of Our Parish Life

At St Paul’s, the celebration of the Holy Eucharist is the source and summit of our life together. Through solemn, beautiful, and sacramentally rich liturgy, we are drawn more deeply into the mystery of Christ’s saving love.

Our worship is marked by:
  • The centrality of the altar
  • The use of incense, vestments, and ceremony
  • The chanting of Scripture and prayer
  • The dignity of silence and reverence
  • A commitment to liturgical seasons and the Church calendar

Regular Services Include:
  • Sunday Sung Parish Mass
  • Weekday Low Masses
  • Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament
  • Sacrament of Confession available by arrangement
  • Holy Days and Feasts observed with due solemnity

All are welcome to attend — to pray, to worship, to receive, or simply to behold the mystery.

A Community Rooted in Prayer, Scripture, and Service

As a parish community, we are committed to growing in holiness through:
  • Daily prayer and the Divine Office
  • Faithful preaching and catechesis
  • Pastoral care and sacramental ministry
  • Spiritual formation across all ages
  • Charitable works and community outreach

We believe that the Christian life is a journey of continual conversion and grace, lived together in the fellowship of Christ’s Body, the Church. Whether you are returning to faith, exploring Christianity, or looking for a church home that values reverence, tradition, and depth, you will be warmly welcomed here.
